FOTD & Review Too Faced Amazing Face Oil-Free Close-Up Coverage Foundation

Happy October everyone! It's been a good month for me so far =). I got hired by Sephora yesterday yayy! After my interview I went to a different Sephora & went browsing around. I wanted to try out a new foundation. Already tried NARS, MUFE HD, Smashbox, & Tarte. Too Faced was the only one I haven't tried & this foundation is new to their line. I got a sample of Too Faced Amazing Face Oil-Free Close-Up Coverage Foundation in Warm Honey. I told the SA I am shade #128 in MUFE HD but slightly lighter right now. She swatched MUFE HD 128 and went over to swatch TF in shade Warm Honey & Honey Beige. Honey Beige was more on the neutral side but very close to MUFE HD 128. Warm Honey had more yellow in it.. I should've gotten a sample of Honey Beige though.

Description on Sephora.com

" Amazing Face Oil Free Close-Up Coverage Foundation
What it is:
An oil-free, skin-smoothing liquid foundation that provides the illusion of airbrushed skin in seconds.

What it does:
Created with advanced Light Refraction Technology, this weightless foundation visibly reduces the appearance of pores and fine lines by diffusing and reflecting light. Bio Transformed Botanicals soften and relax the appearance of facial lines and wrinkles, while Real Skin Technology allows for close-up perfection.Size: 1 oz "

\

Coverage: Light to medium coverage.
Finish:Dewy & Natural.
Consistency: Very similar to NARS Sheer Glow but doesn't dry up fast.

Pros:
-Natural looking
-Weightless and not cakey at all
-If you don't have ANY acne scars or acne, you'd be able to pull this off

Cons:
-Bulky bottle no pump
- Feels oily when applied.
- Wears off after 6-7 hours for me.

It goes on oily, the dewy finish makes my scars stand out even more. Very light coverage, I want a medium-full coverage. It's buildable, but you would have to apply like a few coats to get that full coverage. I even applied extra concealer after using the foundation. It was too oily for me & I don't even have oily skin, it's super dry! I finally set it with Ben Nye's Banana Visage powder & whoaa, big difference. Didn't look oily anymore. Still had a natural finish.

Throughout the day I had to blot twice & noticed it started to wear off. Then again, I NEED full coverage.

I like the natural look & would use this if I had clear skin, just not for me right now.

As you can see, it's pretty light enough that you can still see the freckle on my nose.

September Favorites

It's been awhile since I've done a monthly favorite. I feel so bad and unorganized for not being on the blog roll. It is hard to keep up! I have some great news &but I shall share later. It does mean that I get to post more though =).

All pictures were taken by my Dell Streak 7 Phone. I still need a good camera. I suck at taking pictures & this is the best I can do for now =/ .

Garnier Moisture Rescue Refreshing Gel-Cream - I love loveee this stuff. It is a dupe of Clinique's Moisture Surge. I used to use that, but I ran out & I don't think I can afford to pay full price every time I run out. I have very dry skin & I apply this before makeup application & at night as well. It gives a really cooling sensation & has a cucumber-like smell. My face feels "refreshing" afterwards. Most gel products makes my skin flake, but not this stuff. This is my "hope in a jar" =).  I am not sure if this works for oily combo skin. It's amazing on my dry sensitive skin! HTH!

Hard Candy Sheer Envy Skin Perfecting Primer- I just ran out of the original white bottle one. It was out of stock, so I went for this instead. I actually like this one better. It has a very nice consistency & kind of reminds me of Too Faced's Prime & Poreless Primer. It has a Vick's like scent to me, I really can't figure out what the smell is similar to lol. You only need VERY little of this, it is very silky and smooth. So easy to apply all over the face. I would let it dry for a min before applying concealer/foundation over it. It's super silky! I do plan on repurchasing, don't think I will go for the original again. You can get this at Wal-mart for $8-$9 ish.

Ben Nye Banana Visage Powder- Finally a setting powder that works on my asian yellow undertone skin without giving me a WHITE CAST. Thank youuu! I first heard about this through Kim Porter's makeup video on YT. I've read reviews that it was great for women of color or with olive skintone. The texture of this is fine & kinda corn-starch ish. I don't have a problem with that though. I like how it has a yellow tint, but not to where it changes any color on your face after setting over foundation. The finish is matte and light coverage I would apply this lightly to avoid the cakey look. A big fluffy or kabuki brush will do. I am so glad I finally ordered it. It was only $7 on Makeupmania.com This bottle will last me up to a year, how awesome is that? I use this to set my concealer as well. The only downside is that it comes in a shaker bottle, I like to pour some in my Bare Minerals jar for travel. So ladies you should give this a try, translucent powders like MUFE HD did not work for me at all =(

Skindinavia No More Shine Makeup Finish setting spray- Dream in a bottle. I have a thing for setting sprays. I've tried Elf's, Urban Decay, Evian, & MAC Fix +. I like all but I am very pleased with this. I own a small travel size bottle of UD All Nighter's spray & I ran out of it. I read that Skindinavia teamed up with UD, so basically the All Nighter spray is Skindinavia with UD label on it. Correct me if I'm wrong. I went to Skindinavia's website one day when I was bored. I decided to order the 8 oz of the original & 2 oz  sideof this one. 8 oz bottle was $28...which is double the amount of UD's bottle but for the same price -_- . So of course I went for Skindinavia, it's the same stuff lol. I added the 2 oz because they had a promo going for 20% off and free shipping of orders over $40. My order came out to be $46 something. Very fast shipping too. Anyways, sorry about the rant. The spray says "up to 16 hours". Oh yeah it sure worked. I took a nap and slept with my makeup on. I woke up with no smears, no shine, no need to blot or anything. Ever since I've been using the spray, I don't ever have to blot my face.As far as the no shine part, I wouldn't know. I have dry skin and rarely get oily on my T-zone. The only shine on my face was where I applied my highlighter *nose & cheek area.

Maybelline Matte mousse foundation in Nude Light- I actually use this as a concealer. My dear friend Victoria uses this stuff & I love how bright her under eye is. I believe the concealer is discontinued, but the foundation isn't.  This will last me a very very long time. I say about a year or so seriously. I like to apply my other concealer before foundation but I use this one AFTER foundation for a better coverage. It blends like a dream =). Usually using foundation as a concealer doens't really work & would be too opague.

See how bright her under eye area is? Loves it. Heavy duty concealer & Maybelline Mousse over FYI. She also uses MUFE HD set with MAC SFF Powder in case you guys are wondering. Her makeup is always on point!

Here's me using MAC Studio Finish Concealer in NC30 with Maybelline matte mousse in Nude Light over set with Ben Nye Banana Visage.

Duo concealer brush from Walmart..no brand- This was $2.99 & of course I grabbed it. I like how one end, you can use to apply concealer & the other to blend & use to set. I didn't need to go out and get an extra #224 brush to blend my concealer!

essencee Longlasting eye pencil in 10 Almost Famous- I've been on the look-out for a nude or pearly nude eyeliner since I don't own a MAC Chromographic or the Stila Topaz liner. I searched up dupes for it & found this on makeupalley. It is $1.99 at Ulta & I like to use this on my natural look days. It makes my eyes look bigger =).

Swatched with flash on.

MAC Powder blush in Cubic- This is a satin finish blush. MAC described it as a "Soft Muted Pink". It is a nice natural pinkish nude blush. Perfect for everyday look. Currently NC35 right now. I'm probably going to hit pan on this soon. When I was NC40-42 during the Summer, this didn't really show up on my skin. I had to pack it on. So if you are NC35 or lighter, this will show up on you!

L'oreal Lipstick in Fairest Nude & NYX Mega Shine Lipgloss in Beige- I finally gave in and went out to get this. OMG my ONLY favorite nude lippie. I don't think any of the MAC nude lippies I own look right on me. This doesn't wash me out & it's the perfect nudey pink. Very creamy & moisturizing and doesn't chap my lips at all.Drugstore too, what a great new found love for me. I sometimes pair it with NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Beige. It is not a beige color at all, muted pink actually. You can get both of these babies at Ulta. Love this lip combo & ESPECIALLY with MAC Cubic blush!

That's all for now dolls, do you own any of these beauties? How do you like it or which one would you like to try?

FOTD My same face aka signature look. I need color in my life.

No matter what look I try to go for , I always end up with the same face! I have lots of products I've been wanting to try & yet every time I end up with the same ol look, I tell myself "I will try that out next time...". Um, yeah right!  I open my blush drawer the other night & they all look similar. Soft and subtle colors. Nothing stands out.

I am very fond of baby pink cheeks & nudey-pink lips. Neutral or soft bronze eyes. When I do try to opt for something different, I'd reach for peachy blushes & peachy-coral lipsticks .I am pretty much bored with my makeup lately. It's either two of the looks I mentioned or a soft natural nude look. I don't have any color in my life, I do own red lipsticks and bold pink lipsticks like Candy Yum Yum & Pink Nouveau...but neutral eyes with those of course.

How can I possibly change things up? Probably add some color to my eyes. Fall is around the corner & I have Orange in mind.

FOTD & Product rave on MAC Careblend Powder

Hello guys! I so suck at posting. I am still trying out new stuff & don't want to blog about it without giving it a 100% try first. There's things I've tried that I hated at first & ended up loving. Well I've also been miaing on here because my skin has been at it's WORST! I haven't broken out this bad since middle school. I'm not sure if it's hormonal or from switching up foundation primers.I usually get lil pimples on my chin from pmsing or sometimes on my cheeks from just simply touching my face. I NEVER breakout on my forehead, so I have no idea what the heck broke my forehead out. I had a zit on top of another.Getting grossed out thinking about it.

Anyways, sorry about the breakout rant. I do want to share with you guys that I've officially fallen in love and SO sure that this is my HG setting powder.

MAC Careblend Powder in Medium Plus

I had no idea that MAC came out with this until I read Jo's tweets and saw on her post about it. Hehe I swear she's really good with her recs guys! Definitely my go to person everytime I'm being indecisive about something.

I don't like MSF Natural at ALL. It comes blotchy on me & I prefer a more coverage. Breaks me out on my cheeks as well. Blot powder is TOO ashy. My Too Faced Invisible Powder is starting to look ghostlike on me since I'm getting darker. & I definitely don't wanna make it a hassle to find the right shade for me from drugstore brands.

I finally went into MAC to check out Careblend. I got matched to Med Plus. I swatched it on my hands, & I fell in love with it.

SOO smooth and easy to blend. Sinks into my skin too.  Matte velvety finish. Looks absolutely FLAWLESS. I think this would work well with oily skin, although I have dry skin. I like that it's matte but doesn't make my face look too drying or flaky. So two thumbs up to that ! Does NOT oxidize on me at all unlike Studio Fix *that is for a lil more coverage anyways*

No cakeness at all too. Looks even better with a setting spray. I'm pretty impressed by this. I also think it'd be cool if they had a LOOSE version of this..I would definitely get it to set my concealer or something.

MAC Studio Careblend Pressed Powder
"Formulated to provide a smooth, virtually invisible, fresh-looking finish, this soft, cream-like powder is carefully blended to provide the skin with extra care, nourishment and comfort"

.35 oz $23

LOL hit pan already.

Taken right after I did my makeup. Hair wasn't done yet.

A mini haul

MAC Careblend Powder in Med Plus- Blends like a dreamm. I love the velvet-y finish to it.
ELF lid primer $1- I love this stuff. I haven’t touched my Paint Pots at all.
Revlon Colorstay liner- I ran out of it. I love this. It stays on and doesn't smudge or anything.
MAC Costa Chic Lipstick- I didn’t get Ever Hip since it was sold out. Wanted something coraly or peachy for the Spring/Summer, so went with this.
All brushes were under $6-
Angled blush brush from Walmart- I think it's by the same maker of Ecotools. I'm not sure, I read it somewhere that it was. I use this for contouring. It's so soft.
Pink LE blush brush from Walmart as well- I use this as a setting powder brush. It's alright. I just hope the pink dye doesn't wash off or fade.
Ecotools liner smudge brush- I got this to use for my lower lash line. I don't own the MAC 219 brush =/.
Love & Beauty Face brush from F21- I really got this b/c it's pink haha. But seriously, my new fav brush to apply liquid foundation with. It gets in the smaller areas like around my nose and eye area. I recommend this brush!

Nail Polishes were $3-$4 ea at this nail supply store off Great SW & Pioneer. I will be making trips there more often!
Betseyville makeup bag- $15 @ Nordstrom Rack!! Perfect size. Not too big, not too small. Now I just need a retractable brush, so I won’t get the inside dirty!

Dawn Jaro's makeup/my attempt to do her look lol

I found Dawn Jaro on myspace like a long time ago. Kinda like how I found Jessica Burciaga's page. I always loved her skin complexion. She's a natural beauty too.  I believe she's filipino & latina.

Some pics from her FB.

I really like how bright her undereyes are. & her blush looks natural. Sometime she uses a light pink one which I can probably try with NARS Super Orgasm.

-----------

I used Smut all over the eyelids
BE Well Rested under the eyes
PF Happy Booster Powder in Translucent for Highlighting
MAC Bronze for Contouring
MAC Cubic blush
Rimmels Spotlight Beige lipstick mixed with Wet N Wild Just Peachy lipstick

then I tried again the other day. Used the same thing but just mulch & embark on the eyes.

BTW MAVS won & Spurs lost that same day mu haha. Triple D Stand up!!

Obviously failed haha. But I tried. I just don't know what she uses.

Her twitter is twitter.com/DawnJaro if you wanna follow her.
